Today's chat is with Simpson County Academy head boy's basketball coach James Crain. Coach Crain and his Cougars are coming off an incredible season. One in which the cougars went 37-6. They also won the district, south state, state, and overall championships.
Coach Crain has been coaching for 39 years. He has spent the last 10 seasons at Simpson. He credits some of his coaching philosophy to his junior high and high school coaches. He also enjoys going to coaching clinics and being a student of the game.
Crain feels that this year's team was special because of how hard they played. He felt they were very balanced and unselfish. In his opinion the team was full of great character guys.
He concluded by discussing the future of his program. He feels that the future looks bright. The Cougars have several key player returning. They also have some players moving up from a 24-1 junior high team.
MISS would like to thank coach Crain for taking time to answer our questions, and would like to wish him good luck next season.
