I am not sure about LHSAA trying to get us to cancel the season. I did here the LHSAA director informed the fire marshal that Prairie View was scrimmaging and they came and shut the scrimmage down. I am not sure if it is true just a rumor. I do know that our board and coaching staff as well as Silliman's is abiding by the governor's mandate that contact sports cannot start until we enter phase 3. We have not practiced with pads yet.
The rumor I'd heard was that Bonine had called the MAIS requesting that MAIS delay the start of the season to coincide with the start of LHSAA's. Then, when he was declined, called the state fire marshal to ask him to declare a health hazard being created by MAIS LA schools - by which all Louisiana schools were mandated to start on Oct 8.
Rumors are fun, eh?
Any LHSAA athletes transferring that you've heard of?
Singlewing it is my understanding some Louisiana schools have ignored the mandate of no contact and practiced with contact. Some Louisiana schools say they are practicing with no contact and playing there games in Mississippi. OFA and Silliman are practicing under the state's guidelines and will not play until the state allows us. The other schools are playing in Mississippi. I was told they do not want to take the chance of the school fire marshal poking around their school. Some schools still have original wiring and other things that were code when built but not code now. So they are playing across state lines.
So, since I'm not up on the ins and outs of these things, please explain how 1) a fire inspection doesn't occur yearly as with all business, and 2) how a team practicing football would trigger a failing fire inspection
I am not sure how the school I heard about fire inspection’s happen. At OFA we have one every year and it is pretty thorough. What I heard was someone from administration at a Louisiana member school said he didn’t want the fire marshall poking around his school. They still had areas with two prong outlets. The fear is if they shut down Prairie View’s scrimmage they could come by and start inspecting the schools more thorough. They have decided to play in Mississippi as an alternative to the no contact sports mandate. Our board has chosen to follow the mandate.

No transfers that I know of. The Bonine rumor is basically the same thing I heard.

Transfers would be a primary reason for such actions to have taken place (if they did).
So yesterday some Louisiana schools played but other LA schools did not. What gives?
