OK coaches on the board. All of us have some stories about bus issues. Here are a few. My first was when I played at Parklane. One of the tires went flat on the back when we were going to Chamberlin Hunt in the ninth grade. After looking at it the girl's got in cars with parents as the boys road the bus after it was decided that it was an inside tire so it should be safe. The other bus at Parklane had an 8 track tape player. We had two tapes on the way to the game we listened to the Best of Kenny Rogers. If we won we could listen to the best of The Gap Band. While coaching I had to drive a bus one time at Humphreys that would die if it came to a complete stop. I can remember coming home from Bayou by myself one night and not making a complete stop. It would also backfire like Uncle Buck's car. At ASC I can remember Ray Olive driving all the way home from Brusly, LA with the front door open on the bus because it wouldn't close. He even passed a cop like that in Zachary. The funniest did not involve me. I believe coach Crum is a member of the forum so he may can confirm this. Coach Hurst told me stories of the bus Centreville had, it was named peanut butter and jelly, because of its purple and gold paint job. Supposedly they were going to Parklane and coach Crum had just gotten a new pair of Ray Bans. He had taken them off and had them by the side window. All of a sudden they blue out. Coach Crum stopped the bus and ran to get them. You know this made coach Hurst happy. Coach Hurst said right when coach Crum got to them an 18 wheeler came by and rolled over them. I could imagine coach having to go face the wrath of coach Hurst empty handed. Feel free to add stories.
